The Prosthetics Department has been underway for the past several months, manufacturing approximately 15-20 prosthetics per month. We have joined with Arellano University to establish a Rehabilitation Center on site, manpower courtesy of Arellano specialists. We continue to screen cataract patients, and by October, 2012, we hope to have a two-storey annex behind the JADMC for the purpose of cataract and cleft lip surgeries, thanks to the generous support of Mr. Manny Pangalinan and Operation Smile. The mid-wifery programs, dental clinics, and well family clinics are going strong.

October, 2011
Thanks to the work of our partner, the Kapampangan Development Foundation, under the tutelage of Ms. Sylvia Ordonez, local service organizations, and rotary and lions' clubs, the JADMC is expanding rapidly. We sponsor educational programs for midwives to bring to their communities throughout Pampanga, in our effort to achieve ZERO INFANT MATERNAL MORTALITY within the province. We have satellite clinics in the most remote areas of Pampanga for those who cannot afford transportation to the JADMC. Every week we sponsor dental clinics and wellness clinics.
We have plans to build an Ambulatory Surgical Center behind the JADMC in the very near future, which will focus on cataract and other routine eye surgeries, cleft palate and harelip surgeries.
The Prosthetics Center is busily manufacturing 10-15 prosthetics per month for distribution. A rehabilitation center for the recipients is also being established adjacent to the JADMC under the sponsorship of Arellano University.
May, 2011
We have hired one opthalmologist and plan to hire another. This allows all cataract surgeries to be performed at the JADMC and achieve our goal of
making the JADMC the cataract center for the entire province of Pampanga.
We have added weekly dental clinics to our programs.
The prosthetics laboratory which was previously located at Clark Air Base has now been transferred to the JADMC. Two trained technicians will be manufacturing prosthetics for those in need.
We have passed the Department of Health requirements for the Midwife and Birthing Center with flying colors!

Matching grant applications for the local rotary clubs are being submitted for the following programs:harelip and cleft palate, pterygium and cataract, Pampanga Zero Maternal and Infant Mortality Program (Mother and Child clinics, Birthing clinic), Mobile clinic, Prosthetics Laboratory.5 million Philippine pesos are being requested for each program.
We now have a full-time midwife at the JADMC, Merle Castillo. She is an experienced midwife who used to work in Manila.
By mid-April there will be a full-time opthalmologist at the JADMC.
We have scheduled the production of 15 prosthetics per month.
Everyday at the JADMC we conduct prenatal exams and family planning consultations, blood pressure checks, and EKGS.
Every Tuesday the Mobile Clinic reaches out to surrounding communities and works with local municipal health officers and NGO's (non-government organizations) offering general medical, pediatric, OB consultations, family planning, glucose monitoring, blood pressure checks.

The Jesus A. Datu Medical Center has been the hub of numerous activities serving the town and surrounding areas. Earlier this month, there was a pterygium medical mission in conjunction with the Hospital of the Infant Jesus, serving 137 patients. Funds were raised primarily from friends and colleagues. The next pterygium mission is planned for May, 2011 with the goal of serving 200 patients in three days.
We are in the process of applying for an Ambulatory Cataract Clinic permit, which we expect to occur within the next few weeks. Once that is approved, cataract surgeries will become a regular part and one of the mainstays of the JADMC. There are already over 1000 patients on the waiting list.
The Mother Child Clinic continues every Friday, serving around 50 patients with the helps of an obstetrician, pediatrician, and internist. Medicines are given at no cost.
The Well Family Midwife Clinic will formally open on February 12, 2011.
Two technicians are being trained at Philippine General Hospital. Once they complete the course, they will staff the Prosthetics Laboratory which will be transferred to the JADMC.
We continue to work with local medical associations to recruit volunteer doctors to staff the JADMC year-round. The JADMC houses the doctors and nurses who perform the Harelip and Cleft Palate medical missions.
JULY, 2010
Medical equipment from World Medical Relief was delivered, requiring 26 men and the entire staff to take inventory. It includes a Phaeco machine and two lasers, giving us the capability to do cataract surgeries.
MAY 5, 2010
Starting every Wednesday, there will be a free clinic for children and mothers, thanks to Dr. Bessie Lee. This is as part of the Maternal and Child Care component of the Maternal/Newborn Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) program. The JADMC will have a birthing clinic and serve as the hub for 30 Well family Midwife Clinics (WFMC) throughout the province of Pampanga. It will serve as the training center for midwives. We are happy to be a part of the Pampanga ZERO MATERNAL AND INFANT MORTALITY CAMPAIGN. Our partner in the Philippines, the Kapampangan Development Foundation, is working closely with World Medical Relief, Knightsbridge International, Rotary Club International, Municipal Health Officers, and Social Welfare and Development Offices to achieve these goals.

The Love for Life Foundation and the Datu Angeles David Foundation has joined forces with the Kapampangan Development Foundation to develop the JADMC into a Level 2 Multispecialty hospital. Along with health services such as emergency care, pediatric and adult outpatient medical and dental care, it will provide eye care and surgical services (including surgeries for cataracts and cornea), maternal healthcare services (provide birthing clinic for the poor, serve as a training clinic, provide educational services for the mothers), general surgeries (cysts, cleft palate). It will also offer health education programs for nurses and midwives. We are very excited to be working together to serve the indigent community!
