FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I help?
There are numerous ways you can help. Our current campaign is to raise funds for the building of the Jesus Angeles Datu, MD Medical Clinic, donations of medications and medical supplies.
Do I have to be a medical professional to participate?
No. We depend on an extensive support staff, including pharmacists, dentists, intake coordinators, medical assistants, publicists, and drivers, to name a few. All that is required of you is the spirit to help others.
What is the nature of the medical missions?
We focus on medical and dental cases, family medicine and pediatrics. Medical conditions include what one would see in a primary care setting, such as URI's, asthma, allergies, dermatitis, and hypertension. Dental cases are mostly tooth extractions. Depending on staff availability and followup we also do minor surgical procedures.
What type of medications do you need?
Anti-inflammatories, acetaminophen, adult and children's vitamins, iron supplements, adult and children's cold and cough medicine, medication for asthma and topical steroid and antibacterials are in high demand. Antibiotics for bronchitis and pneumonia are also useful.
How often do you go on a mission?
At least once if not twice a year for at least 2 weeks at a time, usually in early February.
How do you coordinate with the local government and health departments?
We are invited by the local civic associations to work in their town. We work in coordination with the local officials and medical teams to make the mission go as smoothly as possible.
Do you have a religious or political affiliation?
No. Our goal is to provide quality healthcare only.
